Overview

The Spain and Portugal tour will take you on a journey across the Iberian Peninsula. You will be welcomed in the capital of Spain, Madrid. We will travel down, visiting the most emblematic cities of Al-Andalus, such as Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada. We continue our journey into Portugal, crossing the border and heading to beautiful Lisbon, then transferring to the charming mountain town of Sintra before making our way back to the Spanish capital.

Day 1: Madrid

Upon arrival at Madrid airport, meet and greet with our local guide and transfer to the mosque to pray and have lunch at a halal restaurant, followed by a tour of the city center, visiting Las Ventas bullring, Santiago Bernabeu stadium, and Puerta de Alcala, followed by dinner and checking in for an overnight in Madrid.

Day 2: Madrid – Toledo – Granada

After breakfast, we will begin our transfer to Toledo, where we will visit the tenth-century mosque of Bab al Bardun, the Bisagra gate, and Zodocover Square, witness the fine swordmaking skills of Damasquian workshops, and then continue our journey to Granada for dinner, check-in, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Granada

After breakfast, we begin the day with a guided visit to the alhambra, the only preserved palatine city of the Islamic period and the most visited monument in Spain. After lunch, we will explore the Albayzin, the old Muslim quarter offering the best views of the Alhambra, and the great mosque of Granada. After a visit to the city center and the Moroccan market, we will have dinner and go back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Granada – Cordoba

After breakfast, we will begin our transfer to the city of Cordoba. We will begin the day with a guided tour of the Great Mosque of Cordoba, home to the Umayyad Caliphate for over 100 years. After the tour, we will explore the old Muslim quarter, crossing the Roman bridge and seeing the Calahorra tower and the Andalusi house. We will then head for dinner, check in, and overnight in Cordoba.

Day 5: Cordoba – Seville

After breakfast, we will make our way to the sunny city of Seville, starting the day with a guided visit of the Royal Alcazar and the Giralda tower, which is the minaret of the old mosque of Seville, followed by a walking tour of the old Muslim quarter, the Golden Tower, and plaza de Espaa, dinner, check-in, and overnight in Seville.

Day 6: Seville – Lisbon

After breakfast we begin our transfer to Lisbon. Our first stop will be at the Grand Mosque where we will pray and have lunch at a selected halal restaurant. We will then visit the Belem Tower and the old Moorish quarter, followed by free time for shopping and exploring the city center. After dinner we will head to the hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Lisbon – Sintra – Lisbon

After breakfast, we will depart for the beautiful village of Sintra for a guided tour of the Palace du Pena and the Castelo dos Mouros. We will then make our way back to Lisbon for free time and exploration at Rossio Square in the Baixa district, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Lisbon – Merida – Madrid

After breakfast, we begin our transfer to the town of Merida for a visit to the Unesco heritage site at the Alcazaba fort. After lunch, we continue our transfer to Madrid for dinner, check-in, and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Madrid

After breakfast, we will travel to Madrid’s city center, stopping at the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol. After lunch, we will have an afternoon tour of the Prado Museum and the Parque del Retiro, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in Madrid.

Day 10: Madrid – Airport

After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport. We will be there four hours before the departure time.
